Tiny Timmering CFA ransacked by callous thieves
Tiny Timmering CFA fire station has been broken into, and a swag of valuable and critical firefighting equipment has been stolen.
Timmering CFA captain Michael McKinlay says when members arrived there for training tonight they found thieves had ripped metal sheeting from the building and kicked their way through a wall to gain entry.
Michael says it was “gut wrenching” for the members – and two recruits who had joined them for training.
He says some of the things stolen had only been purchased last Friday.
“It has taken our brigade and volunteer supporters years to raise the money to get this equipment so we can do a better job of protecting our community,” Michael adds.
“And then some lowlife comes and does this, and now we have to start over,” he says.
“We have already heard from some people who have seen cars around so if anyone knows anything, or even thinks they do, please contact police and/or let us know.”
Michael says one of the key bits of gear stolen was a Honda 3-inch quick fill pump which they use for their tanker – along with the brigade’s defibrillator.
He says brand new lights, which were going to be used in training for the first time, are also gone.
“They are important here for training and even more important for illumination at jobs – and we haven’t even had them for a week.”
